As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote As a parent, i'm concerned about the low test scores. I know the teachers keep saying the test scores of dual language students will be lower at first, but I wonder if theres just too much focus on making sure the dual language program stays afloat, and not enough on teaching the at-risk students the basic skills they need to succeed. Also, not sure of teachers are being completely honest about my childs progress. The smart kids are doing well and thats all that seems to matter to them Close Quote

Open Quote This BCS district is my life because I chose to live and to work here. Specifically, I chose to live in Mt Kisco an exceptional place in the district. My years of experience in this district have given me a unique perspective on kids from all the elementary schools. The kids who come from Mt Kisco elementary school to our middle school are best prepared for the real diverse world we live in, generally very well-adjusted and as sound academically as students in all the the 4 other district elementary schools. However, Mt Kisco has a unique advantage over all other elementary schools in our district and over so many schools everywhere. Kids and families have the choice to learn 2 languages starting in 1st grade through the most effective possible program, a dual language bilingual education. The other kinds of bilingual programs don’t work but this kind does and enriches everyone involved. What a gem!!!! There are those, though only an extremely vocal small minority, who seek to divide our district calling people in Mt Kisco parasites and far worse, but they fail to even see, through their seemingly short-sighted perhaps bigoted views the fact that dividing the district is really less efficient and more costly for sure. Most importantly, they fail to acknowledge that MKES does all that it does so well with far less funding per student than any of the other district elementary schools. UNique in WESTCHESTER! Open Quote I am a parent of a first grader at MKES. We chose to move to this community from the city for its economic and cultural diversity, proximity to transit to NYC, and bustling town center. We found a gem of an elementary school, with dedicated teachers and staff, involved and passionate parents, and joyful and curious kids. We love MKES! Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
