Buckman Heights Elementary School is a public elementary school serving grades 3-5 in the Greece Central School District in Rochester, NY. With 375 students, the school has consistently been ranked in the bottom 25% of New York elementary schools over the past decade, receiving a 1-star rating from SchoolDigger.

Buckman Heights Elementary School consistently underperforms compared to the district and state in standardized test scores for English Language Arts (ELA) and Math. For example, in the 2024-2025 school year, only 38.02% of 3rd graders, 34.13% of 4th graders, and 38.4% of 5th graders were proficient or better in ELA, compared to the district scores of 39.48%, 36.02%, and 44.77%, respectively, and the state scores of 54.15%, 54.07%, and 56.61%. The school also struggles to support the academic achievement of various student subgroups, ranking in the bottom 25% of New York elementary schools for Asian, Hispanic, and White students, as well as English Language Learners and students with low socioeconomic status.

Despite the school's high per-student spending of $26,577 in the 2023-2024 school year and a relatively low student-teacher ratio of 12:1, Buckman Heights Elementary School has not shown significant improvement in its academic performance over the past decade. When compared to nearby schools in the Greece Central School District, such as Paddy Hill Elementary School, Buckman Heights consistently underperforms in both ELA and Math proficiency rates. The high percentage of free and reduced-price lunch recipients at Buckman Heights (56% in 2023-2024) suggests that the school serves a population with a lower socioeconomic status, which may be a contributing factor to the school's academic challenges.

Open Quote Transferred both of our kids to another school because of their refusal to work with our children's IEPs and provide the assistance they needed. School insisted children didn't need any extra help and punished them for not completing their work when they had official diagnosis of dyslexia & autism. Pathetic. Close Quote
