Open Quote As a graduate of EMHS (2008), I feel as though I got a great education that really prepared me for college. I am currently a music major and theater minor at George Mason University in Fairfax, VA, and the opportunities that EMHS provided me with truly set me ahead of my peers. Through AP and SCALE classes, I entered college with 27 credits from C.W. Post and a 3 on the English AP test got me out of one of my English requirements. This means that I only had to pay for and take four general education courses and had a higher priority lot number that allowed me to register for classes and housing before other people in my class. For example, in my Junior year of college, I was a Senior because of the amount of credits I had. Also, the credits offered through the SCALE program are a LOT cheaper than tuition at a college or university, especially if you're like me and go out of state.

The amount of extracurricular activities taught me time management and gave me many experiences I was grateful to have. On top of that, most of my teachers were very helpful, both in and out of the classroom. From October of my Freshman year to September of my Senior year, our teachers didn't have contracts and while many of them wouldn't come in early or stay late for extra help, many of them did because they cared more about their students than their pay checks. Unfortunately, we could tell that the teachers were suffering and it made us upset, as well as we lost several teachers who needed to support their families.

Alas, I loved my high school years, which I know many people can not say, and I give EMHS a resounding hurrah! Close Quote
