Despite its relatively high per-student spending and favorable student-teacher ratio, Frederick Olmsted #156 faces challenges related to high chronic absenteeism and economic disadvantage among its student population.

Open Quote My child has attended Olmsted at Kensington for two years, after attending School 64 for K-4. I have nothing AT ALL negative to say about the school. The principal and assistant principal are extremely responsive and very supportive of the kids and their families. My son has received individualized attention in terms of learning and athletics/extracurricular activites, and he has really enjoyed the continuity of the Gifted and Talented enrichment courses he takes weekly. So far, he has run cross country, run track, played drums in the orchestra, had his music lessons at school, participated in the yearbook, student council and ski club. The teachers and adminstration are deicated and responsive. The school recently underwent a $22 million dollar renovation, with separate middle school and high school cafeterias, gym, pool, beautiful auditorium, music rehearsal spaces, and state of the art science and technology labs. Additionally, the school is more representative of the demographics of the City of Buffalo than other criterion schools, serving a racially and socioeconomically diverse student body and achieving excellent results in testing, college admissions, and parental and student engagement. I could not be more satisfied. Close Quote
