Open Quote Warning: This is a failing school.
DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD HERE.
They are on their 3rd director in 2 years. Teachers keep quitting because the environment is so toxic. The school leaders have few professional ethics and less common sense.
Bullying is the primary school culture--this comes from the staff and their bad classroom management. When CSA opened, it was known for being loving.
Be warned: This isn't the case anymore. Cruelty and incompetence is the norm.

Q) But my kid is such a talented artist! I want them to have good arts programming.
A) The better your kid is as an artist, the more bullying they will face.

Q) Will CSA be good for my professional child?
A) The grading is set up so that if homework is late, the kid can only get an 80. Good luck getting the incompetent teachers to record grades on submitted work! Professional kids are set up to fail at CSA.

Q) CSA prioritizes kids with IEPs, how are special ed services?
A) The newest director admitted the entire ICT program needed to be "rebuilt." The school struggles to meet basic IEP services. With all the Trump chaos, your kid needs to go to a school that has the capacity to meet their IEP needs. The incompetent adults can't deal with special needs, so they just bully the ND kids. Other kids see this, so the norm is for the neurotypical kids to bully the neurodivergent kids.
Your child deserves better. This school steals taxpayer dollars for IEP kids and doesn't provide adequate services.

Sorry if your kid was sucked in by their marketing, this is a FAILING SCHOOL.
Stay very, very far away. Close Quote

Open Quote When my child attended, it was awesome. My child thrived in this school and was encouraged to be herself. We never had any issues with the administration other than I felt sometimes too strict - not a bad thing. My child was exposed to cultural events and musical events. My child graduated in 2019 and is thriving in a very good nyc high school. Coming from a child in a private school, CSA is a big step up! I don't think parents/students realize how lucky they are to be part of CSA! Kids in catholic schools aren't exposed to half of things students are exposed to at CSA. And Yes some kids rowdy however that is normal. Never an issue with my child that wasn't rectified. My child and I were crying at graduation, we wanted CSA to run into high school. Close Quote

Open Quote Think twice about sending your child here. Definitely have great art opportunities, but insanely incompetent administration and high teacher turnover. School has struggled with discipline policies as well. Very cramped with one elevator to the 12th floor and no gym. 20 minute lunch and no recess. Close Quote
