Summary

Ps 2 Meyer London is an elementary school in New York City's District 2, serving 277 students in grades PK-5. The school has a history of strong performance, though its ranking has dipped in recent years, now placing in the top 37% of New York elementary schools.

Ps 2 Meyer London's students generally perform above state and district averages in English Language Arts and Math, with proficiency rates ranging from 50-75%. The school is particularly strong for English Language Learners and Special Education students, ranking in the top 5-10% of New York elementary schools for these subgroups. However, the school's performance for African American and Hispanic students lags behind, with proficiency rates in the bottom 30-40% of the state. Despite serving a high-poverty student population, with over 90% qualifying for free or reduced-price lunch, Ps 2 Meyer London has historically performed well for low-socioeconomic status students, ranking in the top 5% of New York elementary schools in this category.

Compared to nearby schools, Ps 2 Meyer London's performance is generally stronger, with higher proficiency rates than Ps 130 Hernando De Soto and Ps 42 Benjamin Altman, both of which have shown impressive growth and now rank in the top 10-15% of New York elementary schools. The school's increased per-student spending, from $23,446 in 2020-2021 to $48,596 in 2023-2024, has allowed it to maintain a relatively low student-teacher ratio, but it will be important to monitor how this investment translates into improved outcomes, particularly for the school's lower-performing subgroups.
