As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote The personnel at this school need to have more passion and compassion. They don't seem to try hard enough to get the children to love learning. The materials that I have seen used to teach are boring and unimaginative. They seem to focus more on behavior management than creative learning. My child is always telling me how the principle and another teacher is constantly yelling at the children.

The only exception seems to be in the area of computer skills, but then I haven't seen a whole lot of what they do. I can only go by how excited my child is about visiting website addresses that he has learned about at school and getting on the computer at home.

My main complaint is that the teachers are shrouded from interaction with parents. When my first child attended school, I felt welcomed by her teachers and invited to help out in the classroom. My input was valued. At Floyd Elementary I can't get to the classroom to speak to the teacher at all, she rarely calls me back when I leave a message for her and events that are held to be parent, teacher meetings are little more than staged group lessons. We as parents are given the cold shoulder and left to feel like we don't matter, unless they are trying to raise money with some sale or fund drive. I have not had one session where it was the teacher and I one on one, discussing my child's performance and how it can be improved. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
