Summary

Desert View Elementary is a PK–6 school at 49 Camino La Canada in Los Lunas, New Mexico — a Valencia County town south of Albuquerque — serving 393 students as one of eight PK–6 elementaries in Los Lunas Public Schools. Nearly all students are economically disadvantaged: free/reduced lunch was reported at 100% in recent years, and the district ranks in the bottom third of New Mexico districts.

In the 2025–2026 state snapshot, Desert View Elementary placed 304th of 346 elementary schools — the 12th percentile, 1 star — the lowest point in the ten years of rank history available. That year 28.08% of students were proficient in English/language arts, 20.10% in math, and under 20% in science, against state averages of 43.34%, 25.54%, and 33.40%. The school trails its own district in all three subjects and in 15 of 16 grade-level subject combinations.
