As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote Only gave 5 stars so this review is seen.. Barcelona elementary is by far the worst school ever!!!!. First off what principal walks around calling students and current staff their ("HOMIES"). In my opinion and the opinion of many others Rae Lynn Dooley is unfit as principal at the elementary level . Office staff as well as the principal act like a bunch of high school girls. They care more about taking selfies and being on social media. Their rude, unprofessional and look people up and down (hence high school girls) also they always have attitudes, Even answering the phones there rude. Honestly don't know why they work there when they seem like they rather be elsewhere. I've never dealt with anything like this before just absolutely unreal. So sad when there are some amazing teachers! Seems it's all about what's on paper rather then what's really going on. Some teachers and staff are treated poorly. Bathrooms at times don't have toilet paper or soap it becomes a sanitary problem and when you request a change of clothes for a student its denied by office when I know for fact there is a portable with clothes for the students. There is poor ventilation in classrooms, air conditioning that dont work, windows that don't open, classrooms that have leaks when it rains. Students complain that their class room is hot and nothing is done. Theres favoritism amongst certain staff members from the principal and teachers that get no support. There's educational assistants that sit in the office when they should be helping teachers they're also being used for personal errors such as lunch runs, etc for principal and office staff. Current staff members are celebrated on birthdays others are left out. They go over and beyond for the ones they want balloons, cakes and gifts etc. When students don't get the same. Parents have gone to the school with balloons or cupcakes for their child but were told it wasn't allowed. To me the most important thing is the STUDENTS, there families, the community and support for our teachers!. Covid is not being taking serious! No social distances is happening. When more should be done. There is a more then half of students either being taking care of or raised by elderly family members. When we all know covid has hit them the most we should be looking out for them. The education and health of our students should be what's most important not the numbers or what's on paper. The principal has office staff going on stores run with school money buying things like juices, candies and snacks but students never get anything. Other shopping trips happen and tons of things are bought but again apparently it's for the office not students but school money still paying for it. Office staff also take days off together leaving other staff members in a bind unable to get help because no one is in the office. Also current E.A's are pulled from there spots leaving students with no service that is required. Some staff have the option of choosing whether they want to help when others don't. The Principal Rae Lynn Dooley is a bully and is also always threatening staff with legal action by falsifying information when she at wrong. She gives information regarding students violating HIPAA to current staff but turns around accusing other of violating HIPPA. Think twice about choosing this school for your child.
Thank you.

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
