Las Cruces Public Schools is the district behind eight middle schools serving grades 6–8, with roughly 4,848 students combined; the district itself ranks 49th of 87 New Mexico districts (44th percentile, 2 stars), which frames everything below. Nearly every student at these schools qualifies for free or reduced lunch (97.87%–100%), so poverty status is essentially identical across the group and does not explain why results differ so widely from building to building.
