Hagerman Municipal Schools is a small New Mexico district serving about 408 students across three schools: Hagerman Elementary (PK–5, 217 students), Hagerman Middle (6–8, 70 students), and Hagerman High (9–12, 121 students). Nearly every student qualifies for free or reduced-price lunch — 98.62% at the elementary and 100% at the middle and high schools — and the district overall ranks 45th of 87 in the state, at the 48th percentile with 3 stars.
Each school plays a different academic role. Hagerman Middle is the clearest bright spot: its language arts and ELA results in 2025-26 came in above state in every tested middle grade, and it posted an 88th-percentile, 4-star year in 2023-24. Hagerman Elementary is the district's math standout, with all-grade math about 11 points above state on NM Combined and strong 3rd- and 4th-grade math results, though 4th- and 5th-grade ELA and 5th-grade science fell below state.
