Best Elementary Schools in Zip Code 07603

The 07603 zip code in New Jersey is home to two elementary schools: Lillian M. Steen and E. Roy Bixby. These schools serve students from pre-kindergarten through 5th grade and are part of the Bogota Public School District.

Of the two schools, Lillian M. Steen appears to be the higher-performing, with consistently higher proficiency rates in English Language Arts and Mathematics compared to the district and state averages. In contrast, E. Roy Bixby has lower proficiency rates across the board, with several grades performing significantly below the district and state averages. Both schools, however, have relatively high chronic absenteeism rates, which may be impacting student performance.

While E. Roy Bixby has a significantly higher per-student spending of $14,677 and a lower student-teacher ratio of 10:1, compared to $8,428 and 12.6:1 at Lillian M. Steen, the academic performance at E. Roy Bixby still lags behind. This suggests that factors beyond just funding and staffing may be contributing to the differences in student outcomes between the two schools.
