Summary

James A. McDivitt Elementary School is a public elementary school serving 516 students in grades K-5 in Old Bridge, New Jersey, which is part of the Old Bridge Township School District. The school generally performs above the state average in English Language Arts and Mathematics proficiency, with particular strengths in serving Hispanic and low-income students.

Compared to other elementary schools in the district, McDivitt performs on par or slightly below higher-ranked schools like Walter M. Schirra and Alan B. Shepard, but outperforms schools like Southwood and Madison Park. Interestingly, McDivitt achieves these relatively strong results with lower per-student spending than some nearby schools.

However, the school faces challenges with rising chronic absenteeism, which has increased from 5.7% in 2020-2021 to 16.6% in 2022-2023. Additionally, while the school performs well for Hispanic and low-income students, it struggles more with Asian and White student groups, ranking in the bottom quarter of the state for those subgroups. Addressing achievement gaps across different demographics could be an opportunity for improvement.

Open Quote I wanted to leave a review about this school since I had the chance to go through each grade.
Currently I'm 43 and to this day this school leaves me with really bad memories. The teachers for the most part we're teaching for a paycheck, I did have one teacher who really cared about the students but the rest were really bad.
I know it's been years since I've been through this school but if your a parent please check this school out before sending your kid to it. I would hate to have any child have the same experiance that I did. Close Quote
