Summary

Anna L. Klein is an elementary school located in Guttenberg, New Jersey, serving grades PK-8 with a total enrollment of 972 students. The school is part of the Guttenberg School District, which is ranked 452 out of 609 districts in New Jersey and has a 1-star rating from SchoolDigger.

Anna L. Klein consistently ranks in the bottom quarter of New Jersey elementary schools, with significantly below-average performance on NJSLA assessments across all grade levels and subjects. The school struggles particularly in mathematics, with proficiency rates ranging from 20.2% to 41%, well below the state averages. This may be partly due to the school's high percentage of economically disadvantaged students, at 79.42%, as well as its high proportion of English Language Learners.

While the nearby schools, such as Lincoln Elementary School, Public School Number Five, and Robert Fulton Elementary School, also struggle academically, they generally outperform Anna L. Klein on NJSLA assessments, particularly in mathematics. Additionally, these nearby schools have lower percentages of economically disadvantaged students compared to Anna L. Klein. Despite the higher spending per student at Anna L. Klein, this does not seem to translate into better academic outcomes for the school.
