Summary:
Red Bank Borough Public School District has two schools serving prekindergarten through grade 8: Red Bank Primary School (PK–3) and Red Bank Middle School (grades 4–8). In 2025–26, average proficiency across the reported grade-level results was 39% in ELA, compared with 51% statewide, and 31% in math, compared with 40% statewide. The clearest overall concern is that the combined gap in ELA and math widened from about 10 points below state averages in 2024–25 to about 11 points below in 2025–26.
Red Bank Middle School has the strongest standout result: 82% proficiency in Algebra I, 42 points above the state’s end-of-course rate and 8 points above the grade 8 state rate. Its seventh-grade math result was also 6 points above the state rate. The sharpest shortfall was Middle School fifth-grade math, at 25% versus 46% statewide, or 21 points lower; fifth-grade ELA was 22 points below its state benchmark. Red Bank Primary School’s third-grade ELA result was 29%, 19 points below the state rate. School-to-school test results are not directly comparable because the schools serve different tested grades.
Results moved in different directions by subject: the average ELA gap grew from 8 points below the state in 2024–25 to 12 points below in 2025–26, while the math gap narrowed from 11 to 10 points. Middle School’s SchoolDigger ranking rose from the 41st percentile in 2023–24 to the 43rd percentile in the latest two years; Primary School was at the 21st percentile in both 2024–25 and 2025–26. Both schools had low chronic absenteeism in 2024–25—5% at Middle and 6% at Primary, versus 14% statewide. Both reported free/reduced lunch eligible in 2024–25: 83% at Middle and 80% at Primary.
