Prospect Park Public School District

Prospect Park Public School District has two schools serving prekindergarten through grade 8: Prospect Park School No. 1 serves PK–6, and Prospect Park Middle School serves grades 7–8. Most reported ELA and math results in 2025–2026 were below state results for the same grades, but the middle school had a notable Algebra I strength: 67% were proficient on the End-of-Course test, 27 percentage points above the state’s 40%.

The middle school stands out for its Algebra I End-of-Course result, while School No. 1 had the widest listed gap: its grade 5 math proficiency was 4%, compared with 46% statewide, a 42-point difference. Across grades 7–8, the middle school’s average gaps were 16 points below the state in ELA and 13 points below in math; School No. 1’s grades 3–6 averages were 29 points below in ELA and 38 points below in math. The Algebra I result is a specific bright spot, not evidence of above-state performance across subjects: eighth-grade Algebra I was 67%, versus 75% statewide.

ELA improved at both schools, especially at the middle school: its grades 7–8 average rose from 27% to 38%, while School No. 1’s grades 3–6 average increased from 11% to 20%. School No. 1’s math average remained about 8%; middle-school math edged up from 16% to 17%. SchoolDigger rankings also rose: the middle school moved from the 16th to the 27th percentile, and School No. 1 from the 2nd to the 3rd. As context, in 2024–2025, free/reduced lunch eligible students made up 30% at School No. 1 and 52% at the middle school; student-teacher ratios were 8.4 and 9.5, respectively. Because the schools serve different grades, their overall averages are not direct same-grade comparisons, and the middle school’s smaller tested groups may make results less stable.
