Summary:
Paramus Public School District has eight schools: five elementary schools, two middle schools and one high school, serving families in Paramus from elementary through high school. In 2025–26, elementary and middle schools generally scored above state averages in the grade-level ELA and math comparisons, but results varied substantially among schools and tests. The clearest overall takeaway is that strong districtwide comparisons with the state do not mean every school or subject is equally strong.
Memorial Elementary led three of four elementary comparisons, with 76% proficiency in grade 3 ELA, 72% in grade 4 ELA and 80% in grade 4 math; Ridge Ranch Elementary led grade 3 math at 75%. The elementary-school gaps were widest in grade 4 ELA, at 22 percentage points between Memorial and Midland Elementary, and grade 4 math, at 20 points between Memorial and Stony Lane Elementary. East Brook Middle scored higher than West Brook Middle in all eight grade-level ELA and math results; the largest gap was 38 points in grade 8 math, where scores were 74% and 36%. At the high school, Geometry and NJGPA ELA were strengths, while Algebra I end-of-course proficiency was 36%, 4 points below the state.
Recent results show different patterns by school: the average across four elementary tests rose at Memorial from 72% to 75%, while it fell at Midland from 81% to 62%. Across matched elementary tests, the school average declined from 74% to 67%, though it remained above the state average. SchoolDigger’s statewide percentile ranking for Midland also fell from 90 to 72 between 2023–24 and 2025–26; Paramus High’s rose from 68 to 77. For context, all eight schools reported free/reduced lunch eligible figures for 2024–25, ranging from 14% at Memorial to 20% at Midland; reported student–teacher ratios ranged from 8.8 at West Brook to 13.0 at Ridge Ranch. These school-level measures offer context, not an explanation for test results.
