Summary:
Lopatcong Township School District has two schools serving preschool through grade 8: Lopatcong Elementary School serves PK–4, and Lopatcong Township Middle School serves grades 5–8. In 2025–2026, the listed ELA and math results averaged 59% and 52%, respectively, above state averages of 51% and 40%; science averaged 21%, below the state’s 23%. The clearest overall takeaway is that ELA and math results generally compare favorably with the state, while science is a notable exception.
Lopatcong Township Middle School stands out most in grade 8 math and ELA: 51% in math was 28 points above the state, and 73% in ELA was 20 points above. Its Algebra I results were also exceptional, at 100% for both the End-of-Course and grade 8 measures, compared with state results of 40% and 75%, respectively. By contrast, its science results were below the state in grades 5 and 8 by 2 and 3 points. At Lopatcong Elementary School, grade 3 math was a bright spot at 61%, 11 points above the state; grade 4 math was the weakest state comparison, at 41%, 6 points below.
Recent changes were mixed: elementary grade 3 ELA rose 14 points and grade 3 math rose 10 points from 2024–2025, while grade 4 math fell 1 point. Middle-school math remained above the state in every listed grade, but its advantage narrowed in all four grades. SchoolDigger ranked the middle school 166 of 743, in the 78th percentile with 4 stars; the elementary school ranked 632 of 1,331, in the 53rd percentile with 3 stars. For 2024–2025, free/reduced lunch eligible students made up 17% at the elementary school and 17% at the middle school; student–teacher ratios were 11.7 and 11.4, respectively. The schools serve different grade spans, so their results are not direct same-grade comparisons.
