Collingswood Public School District

Collingswood Public School District has seven schools: five elementary schools, one middle school and one high school, serving children from elementary through high school. In 2025–26, elementary schools averaged 63% in ELA, 56% in math and 36% in grade 5 science, all above state averages of 49%, 47% and 27%, respectively. The middle school also outperformed state averages in its reported ELA and math grades. The most important finding for families is that these district averages hide wide elementary-school differences: grade 5 ELA results ranged by 47 percentage points and grade 5 math by 55 points.

Zane North Elementary School was the most consistently strong elementary school: it scored 82% in grade 3 ELA, 34 points above the state, and 91% in grade 4 ELA, 44 points above the state. James A. Garfield Elementary School led grade 5 ELA at 89%, while William P Tatem Elementary School led grade 5 math at 72%. At the other end, Thomas Sharp Elementary School scored 17% in grade 5 math, 29 points below the state, and 42% in grade 5 ELA, 10 points below. Collingswood Middle School averaged 68% in ELA and 48% in math, each 15 points above the state. At Collingswood High School, ELA and Geometry were above state results, but end-of-course Algebra I was 8%, 32 points below the state.

Recent changes are mixed: elementary average ELA fell from 68% to 63% between 2024–25 and 2025–26, while math rose from 54% to 56%; the middle school’s ELA average fell from 75% to 68%, while math climbed from 38% to 48%. High school grade 9 ELA rose from 45% to 58%, but grade 9 Algebra I fell from 29% to 13%. SchoolDigger rates Zane North 5 stars and the 91st percentile, Thomas Sharp 2 stars and the 34th percentile, and the middle school 4 stars and the 79th percentile. As context, 2024–25 free/reduced lunch eligible shares were 17% at Zane North, 16% at Tatem and 44% at Thomas Sharp; these figures alone do not explain school results.
