Greenland School District

The Greenland School District serves the Greenland, New Hampshire, area through one K–8 school, Greenland Central School, which enrolls about 367 students.

Because there is only one school, families will not find major school-to-school differences within the district. Instead, the most useful picture comes from the school’s performance by grade and subject. Overall, Greenland Central performs well above New Hampshire averages: 65% of students are proficient in math, compared with 44% statewide; 70% are proficient in reading, compared with 55%; and 51% are proficient in science, compared with 38%. Eighth-grade math is another area to watch, at 43% proficiency, only slightly above the state’s 40%, and it represents a sharp drop from seventh-grade math. From the prior year, math improved by 11 percentage points and science by 10 points, while reading declined by 6 points. The school remains a strong overall option, but parents may want to ask about support for early-grade reading and math, eighth-grade mathematics, and how the school helps students transition from the strong seventh-grade results into eighth grade.
