Fremont School District

Fremont School District has one school, Ellis School, serving approximately 353 students from Pre-K through 8th grade. Although classified as an elementary school, it also includes middle-grade students, so families should consider its grade-level differences rather than relying only on the schoolwide averages. The school’s strongest current area is science. In 2025–26, 41% of students were proficient in science, compared with 38% statewide. Reading also declined sharply from 58% proficient in 2024–25 to 44% in 2025–26, while math fell from 43% to 35%; science improved by 8 points. Parents may want to ask how the school is addressing fourth-grade literacy, sixth-grade math, and the recent reading decline, while also learning from the stronger science and upper-grade results.
