Rosman High

Rosman High is a small, rural high school serving 254 students in grades 9–12 in the mountain community of Rosman, North Carolina, as part of Transylvania County Schools. What stands out most is that the school achieves well-above-expected results even though 98.8% of students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. In the most recent year, Rosman earned a 4-star rating and ranked 159th of 662 North Carolina high schools (76th percentile)—slightly ahead of the district's larger Brevard High (73rd percentile). The one soft spot is Math I, where proficiency (57.8%) trails the district average even though it beats the statewide number. For families, Rosman High is a small school where attendance has improved dramatically, class sizes are low, special education is a genuine strength, and students consistently outperform expectations given the high level of economic disadvantage.
