Lake Norman High is a large, traditional public high school in Mooresville, NC, serving roughly 1,905 students in grades 9–12 as part of Iredell-Statesville Schools. The school serves a comparatively affluent area, with about 20% of students eligible for free or reduced-price lunch. It remains a solidly above-average performer, posting a 94.7% graduation rate and test scores that consistently outpace both district and state averages in Biology, English II, Math I, and Math III.

Still, Lake Norman has slipped from an elite standing to a mid-tier one over the past decade. As recently as 2017–18, the school ranked in the 90th percentile statewide, earning 5 stars; today its 230th-place ranking places it at the 65th percentile among North Carolina high schools. Among the area's traditional public high schools, that puts it behind William Amos Hough High, North Lincoln High, and East Lincoln High, though it ranks ahead of South Iredell High and Mooresville High School.
