Summary

Uwharrie Charter Academy is a public charter school located in Asheboro, North Carolina, serving 2,152 students from kindergarten through 12th grade. The school offers an alternative educational approach compared to traditional public schools in the area.

Uwharrie Charter Academy has consistently maintained high four-year graduation rates, ranging from 83.7% to 93.2% over the past few years, which is notably higher than the state average. However, the school's academic performance on state assessments is mixed, with some grade levels and subject areas performing better than the state average, while others lag behind. For example, the school's mathematics and reading proficiency rates vary across grade levels, and its performance on End-of-Course exams, such as Math III, is significantly worse than the state average. The school maintains a relatively low student-teacher ratio, which suggests a more personalized learning environment for students.

While Uwharrie Charter Academy demonstrates strengths in its high graduation rates, the inconsistencies in academic performance across grade levels and subject areas suggest a need for a more targeted approach to curriculum and instruction. Additionally, the lack of data on the school's free and reduced-price lunch rates makes it difficult to assess the potential impact of socioeconomic factors on student outcomes. Incorporating data from nearby schools could provide valuable insights into how Uwharrie Charter Academy compares to its peers in the local educational landscape.

Open Quote This school is awful. Students from wealthy parebts whom contribute money are allowed to do anything they want. Students are allowed to make very racial and sexist remarks and they are not reprimanded. I had to get my child kut of this unrealistic, snobby school were the education is far below par.
