As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote A very poor choice for a school. Counselors and staff often gossip about their students within earshot. Disabled students struggle to have their IEPs met. Especially from honors and AP classes. Teachers directly tell their students they are bothersome. School does not handle bullying nor sexual harassment whatsoever, instead keeping students in the counseling center as opposed to disciplining bullies. The gifted students are given incredible amounts of work and are graded harsher than any college course I have taken. This school did not prepare me for college, instead instilling a fear I had to unlearn. This school encourages perfection in academics and does not accept making mistakes. Close Quote

Open Quote The kids come home with to much drama, not enough in class teaching, and are expected to lear =n the stuff with doing work sheets, that show nothing of the steps involved in solving the problems. My little girl comes home every day in a bad mood, due to other children picking on her. My son comes home feeling like he is overwhelmed with trying to stay in the supposedly cool with the other kids, that think they are the best in the world because they bring drugs or other contraband to school. They need metal detectors on all of the entry ways, as well, as actual class lessons, instead of paperwork lessons.
I know our children are not the brightest these days, but it would help a bit if they were not treated like infants at school. Close Quote

Open Quote simply the best school i could ever attend. i absolutely love my school. my peers are great, my teachers are fantastic. i also would like to add that everyone in the school gets along. it seems like all my friends that i talk to from other schools talk about the "clicks" that they have, but at Jack Britt there is no such thing. we all get along, we all support each other, and we all love each other. we have the best scores in the county and the very top in the state. our sports are the best considering our football team is the top in the state! we're not your typical high school. the teachers have great relationships with the students and push you to do your best and all the peers encourage you. we're just one giant family. it's GREAT to be a BUCCANEER! Open Quote We moved here to Fayetteville as a military family with reservations about the Cumberland County School District; however, after many hours of research, we decided to move to the Jack Britt school district. We have nothing but good things to say about Jack Britt High School. The teachers my children have had have been very attentive to the students' needs and have been there to assist whenever needed. The staff works very hard to assist students and will stay after school for tutoring, if necessary. The administration takes their jobs very seriously and are intent on keeping JBHS a safe school environment for the students. The extra curricular activities (band, sports, etc) are well supported by the student body, staff, faculty and community. I would definitely select this school again and would definitely recommend JBHS to anyone moving to the Fayetteville/Ft. Bragg area. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
