Open Quote We absolutely love Coast Episcopal. I am a stay at home mom, and I enrolled my daughter in the toddler program two mornings a week so she could socialize with other children her own age. Since I don't work, I did not want to send her to a daycare center packed with children, newborns to preschoolers, that were essentially being babysat while their parents were at work all day. Our community has very good public schools, but the daycares in our area are not as regulated or well-funded as they are. If I had not found Coast Episcopal, I would have kept my daughter at home with me until it was time for her to go to kindergarten. What really drew me to Coast was the extremely low student to teacher ratio and the fact that the toddlers and preschoolers have separate schools. This keeps that activities very age appropriate for the children. In the end, the most important aspect for choosing this school was the extremely laid back environment. It is not overly structured like most daycares and preschools. The children are given the freedom to pursue the activities that appeal to them the most, and the teachers take note of each child's individual strengths and help foster them based on their own learning style. Now my daughter goes to preschool at Coast 5 mornings a week, and she loves it! We have had such great success in the short time that we have been there that I am certain she will stay at Coast Episcopal for elementary school. I always assumed she would go there for preschool then would transition to public school for kindergarten, but after experiencing the atmosphere and seeing that there are only 10 or 12 kids in each classroom, I am absolutely hooked on the idea of her going there instead of public school. Since it is a small school, the teachers, students, and parents become like family. Parents pitch in all year round, and they are just as much a part of the school as the students are. I have lived in Long Beach my whole life and had heard about Coast Episcopal, but I never realized what an amazing place it was until I stumbled upon it while looking for a place to send my daughter for a mother's morning out. I am thankful every day that we found Coast Episcopal, and I know my daughter will have a brighter future because of this amazing school! Close Quote

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
