After years of ranking near the bottom of Mississippi high schools, the school has made a dramatic leap in the 2025–2026 ranking cycle, moving from the 10th percentile (208th out of 232) to the 45th percentile (124th out of 224). That places it nearly even with North Pike High School, which ranks in the 49th percentile, and well ahead of South Pike High School, which sits near the bottom at the 6th percentile.

Subject-level scores on the 2025–2026 MAAP exams show a clear split. Biology is now a genuine strength: 66.1% of McComb students are proficient, exceeding the state average of 63.1% and North Pike's 60.1%. English II proficiency is essentially tied with North Pike (45.9% vs. 45.6%) and close to the state average of 49.3%. Algebra I, however, remains the school's biggest academic weakness.
