The school has improved from a 2-star to a 3-star state rating, climbing to 108th out of 224 high schools statewide for 2025–2026. About 66% of students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch, and the school enjoys an unusually low student-teacher ratio of 10.4 to 1—the lowest among nearby high schools.

The school's biggest strengths are in math and science. In 2025–2026, 80.6% of students scored proficient on the Biology EOC, far exceeding the state average of 63.1% and nearly 27 points above West Jones High School. Eighth-grade math (65.4%) and 8th-grade science (60.3%) also topped district and state averages. Still, Northeast Jones outperforms nearby Laurel High School in every major subject by wide margins and actually beats South Jones in 8th-grade math and science.
