Carver Elementary is a small PK–5 school in Bassfield, MS, serving 252 students in the Jeff Davis County School District, where nearly all students (98.8%) come from low-income households. Despite this challenging context, Carver has been steadily improving: it now ranks in the 57th percentile of Mississippi elementary schools (3 stars), a big jump from the 35th percentile just a few years ago, and it clearly leads its own district in academic performance.
