Webster County Schools is a small Mississippi district serving about 1,717 students across four schools — two elementary schools and two 6–12 "high schools" — in a largely rural area, and it ranks 29th out of 134 districts statewide (78th percentile, 4 stars). The clearest standout is East Webster High School, which ranks 64th in the state (71st percentile, 4 stars) and boasts a 98.7% graduation rate, far above both the district's 87.5% and the state's 89.2%. It also posts strong Algebra I (78%), Biology (75%), and 5th-grade math (73.1%) proficiency, while serving the lowest share of economically disadvantaged students (46.5% free/reduced lunch). East Webster Elementary School is the top elementary, ranking 113th (70th percentile, 4 stars) with the district's lowest chronic absenteeism (17.3%) and the highest single subject score in the district — 83.6% proficiency in 5th-grade science. However, its 3rd-grade math proficiency is just 31.5%, well below the state average.

The two Eupora schools lag their East Webster counterparts across most measures. Eupora High School has a 76.6% graduation rate — a dramatic 22-point gap from East Webster — and chronic absenteeism of 32.3%. Eupora Elementary School has the highest economic disadvantage rate (66.1% free/reduced lunch) and 32.0% chronic absenteeism. Attendance aligns closely with rankings: the two lower-absenteeism East Webster schools rank higher, while both Eupora schools sit below the state average on chronic absenteeism. Interestingly, Eupora High School actually outperforms East Webster in middle-school English Language Arts (49.2% vs. 44.0%), but East Webster is much stronger in math and science.

The most urgent district-wide concern is a sharp decline in elementary math proficiency between 2024–25 and 2025–26. For example, East Webster's 4th-grade math dropped from 75.8% to 44.6%, and Eupora's 5th-grade math fell from 69.9% to 44.8% — even as high school math improved. Both elementary schools have also slipped significantly in their state rankings over two years. Since these "high schools" include grades 6–8, parents should interpret their rankings with that structural caveat. For a district in the top quarter statewide, supporting early-grade math and addressing chronic absenteeism at the Eupora schools are the most pressing priorities.
