Olive Branch, Mississippi is home to 14 public schools serving approximately 10,714 students in grades PK–12, all part of the DeSoto County School District, which ranks 45th out of 134 districts in the state. The city's schools include nine elementary-level campuses, two middle schools, and three high schools, with an average graduation rate of 98.2% that exceeds both state and district averages. However, this is a city of sharp contrasts: free/reduced lunch rates range from just 18.3% at Lewisburg High School to 63.8% at Chickasaw Elementary School, and that socioeconomic gap closely tracks academic outcomes.

The Lewisburg cluster is the clear standout. Lewisburg High School ranks 5th of 224 high schools in Mississippi with a perfect 100% graduation rate and exceptional EOC proficiency (90.7% in Algebra I, 82.1% in Biology). Lewisburg Intermediate School ranks 25th of 377 elementary schools, with 5th grade science proficiency at 86.9% versus a 70.7% district average. Center Hill Middle School is the top middle school, ranking 53rd of 260, with 8th grade math proficiency of 70.3% compared to just 46.1% at Olive Branch Middle School. On the other end of the spectrum, Chickasaw Elementary School, Olive Branch Intermediate School, and Olive Branch Middle School post the lowest proficiency rates and highest poverty levels in the city.

Two issues deserve parent attention. First, chronic absenteeism is a major concern at the high school level — Lewisburg High School has a 46.9% chronic absenteeism rate despite its top-5 state ranking, and high schools average 39.6% overall. Second, math proficiency dropped sharply at several elementary schools in 2025-26: Overpark Elementary School saw 3rd grade math fall 25.5 points to 41.2%, and Chickasaw Elementary School fell to just 26.2%.
