Summary:
The 65772 zip code is home to a single elementary school, Southwest Elementary, which serves students from the Southwest R-V school district. While the school has consistently ranked in the bottom half of Missouri elementary schools, a closer look at its performance and demographics reveals some notable insights.
Southwest Elementary has struggled academically, with its students performing below the state average on standardized tests in both math and English language arts. The school's ranking has remained in the bottom half of Missouri elementary schools over the past few years, indicating a persistent challenge in improving student outcomes. One potential contributing factor is the high percentage of students eligible for free or reduced-price lunch, which stands at 65.65%, suggesting the school serves a population facing significant economic challenges.
Despite the higher per-student spending and lower student-teacher ratio at Southwest Elementary compared to the state average, the school's academic performance remains below par. This suggests that factors beyond just resource allocation, such as instructional practices, curriculum, and school leadership, may be contributing to the school's challenges. As the sole elementary school in the 65772 zip code, Southwest Elementary's performance is crucial for the local community, and targeted interventions and support may be necessary to help improve student outcomes and better serve the needs of the area.
