Open Quote We pulled our daughter out of this school for several reasons. Academically, socially and morally it is lacking. They do not teach Catholic faith correctly nor do they live it. My daughter got tired of the same small crowd and the behavior of the students. Some of the things she had to endure were horrible.
Once she started at another Catholic high school, everything changed and she was once again happy, outgoing and involved. We did have to invest in tutors to cover the lack of education but is was worth it to have her out of there.
Reading over the previous comments I read a thinly veiled threat made by a former student. That alone, speaks volumes about what your child will encounter at Barat. Close Quote

Open Quote I am very disturbed to see such inaccurate information as has been posted here. We have had one child graduate from Barat and two more attending now. Like anything in life and school is certainly no exception, the child will get out of it what they put into it. That being said, I can think of no other school as focused as Barat is on developing great young people. It is true that Barat could certainly use more money. However, that is the case with any school. Remember that the next time your public school district asks for a tax increase. No, Barat does not have a great football team, basketball team or any other team for that matter. But, that does not prevent the students from giving their all or the student body from supporting all that participate. If you want your child to be prepared for a top notch academic university, prepared for the challenges of life or prepared to succeed in whatever inspires them, then Barat is unmatched. I agree there are less expensive private schools, but they will not compare to Barat in the individual attention given to each student. Barat is a special place to learn and I would urge you to see for yourself rather than believe the negative posts here. Close Quote

Open Quote So I hear you talking trash on the football team? This is Tanner from Barat Academy and I am the qb from the football team. Let me know who you are talking crap on your own school, for your information we have someone going to college on a scholarship for football. So if you want to talk ish on this school and this team hit me up. I'll be at Barat which I am proud to go to. Leave if you don't like it we don't want your crappy attitude here and don't think your some hot stuff. Get at me. Close Quote

Open Quote I am begging my mom to take me out of this horrible school. I am learning nothing and they treat us like preschoolers. It's so small and I have to put up with the same 8 people all day. I don't get to have classes with anyone else and I hate it. All our sports suck and the only reason the football team went undefeated this season is because there were only five games and they played other suckier smaller private schools like Principia. They promised me it would be totally unlike public school but it's exactly the same or even worse. There is just as much or even more smoking and drinking here as there is at public school. If you don't drink you won't fit in. They constantly beg for money because let's face it- this school is broke. I am extremely miserable but I can't leave because they want 5,000 dollars (they rest of tuition and half my financial aid) for me to leave and my family just doesn't have that kind of money. To all the parents- DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD TO THIS SCHOOL. I wasted a year of my high school experience here. Close Quote

Open Quote The school lacks the academics needed to compete with the much better schools in the area. The administration is so involved with getting money that the education of the students is ignored. The AP classes are not taught by people who are educated in the subject, and there are not enough advanced classes to prepare for college.
There is really no reason to send your child to a school where after you pay tuition they ask you to put your home and retirement up for collateral. Close Quote

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
