Summary

KIPP Inspire Academy is a public charter middle school in Saint Louis, Missouri, serving 421 students in grades 5-8. The school is part of the KIPP St. Louis Public Schools district, which is ranked 357 out of 367 districts in the state and has a 0-star rating from SchoolDigger.

KIPP Inspire Academy consistently ranks in the bottom quartile of Missouri middle schools, with its academic performance significantly below state and district averages across all grade levels and subject areas. For example, in the 2024-2025 school year, the percentage of students proficient or better in Mathematics ranged from 3.4% to 17.9%, compared to the state average of 32.7% to 45.5%. The school's performance on English Language Arts and Science assessments was similarly low. KIPP Inspire Academy's chronic absenteeism rates, ranging from 46.7% to 56.4%, are also significantly higher than the state and district averages.

Interestingly, nearby schools, including other KIPP and charter schools, as well as traditional public schools like Compton-Drew ILC Middle and Gateway Middle, outperform KIPP Inspire Academy on state assessments, despite serving similar student populations. This suggests that the school's struggles may not be solely due to the socioeconomic challenges faced by its students, but may also be related to the effectiveness of its educational model and practices.

Open Quote I wish I never sent my children here. The staff talks down to the children. A teacher was fired for bringing a gun to school. Kids are suspended for have drugs on them and not kicked out. They can't seem to nip the behavior problem kids in the bud. They really push testing so the can keep getting money. The staff is rude. The Mr. Armstead is not an effective leader. Close Quote
