Martin County West Senior High is a small public high school in Sherburn, Minnesota, serving about 187 students in grades 9–12 as part of the Martin County West School District. Its current statewide rank is 262 of 473 (45th percentile, 2 stars) for 2025–2026, a partial rebound from 369 of 450 (18th percentile, 1 star) the year before. Historically the school was much stronger — 33 of 489 (93rd percentile, 5 stars) in 2016–2017 — and it stayed in the top quartile through 2018–2019 before a multi-year decline. With only 187 students, year-to-year swings can be exaggerated by small cohort changes.

The school's strongest results are in persistence and completion. In 2024–2025 its graduation rate was 96.5%, well above Minnesota's 84.9%, and its dropout rate was 0.0% versus the state's 4.2%. Among nearby schools, Truman Secondary (93.7%), Jackson County Central Senior High (94.1%) and Fairmont Junior/Senior High School (85.0%, with a 10.7% dropout rate) all trailed MCW on graduation. The clearest academic weakness is math: only 15.2% of students were proficient in 2025–2026, versus 44.9% statewide and 40.8% in the district, and well behind Jackson (34.3%) and Fairmont (36.8%). Only Truman (12.8%) and Granada Huntley East Chain High School (10.5%) scored lower, and math has slid from 32.61% in 2022–2023.
