South Point Elementary is a public school in East Grand Forks, Minnesota, serving grades 3–5 with 435 students as part of East Grand Forks Public Schools. The most dramatic finding is Science: all-grades proficiency fell from 44.3% in 2022–23 — above district and state — to 29.79%, 12.06%, and 11.1%, a drop of more than 33 percentage points. Math also declined from 47.1% to 37.3%, widening the gap to the state from about +1.6 to −7.6 points, while Reading stayed stable but below. Poverty and class size do not fully explain these results: South Point’s free/reduced lunch rate and student–teacher ratio are lower than some nearby schools. Student-group results vary: special education students improved to the 52nd percentile, female students fell to the 22nd, low-income students were at the 34th, and one large group remained at 0 stars for three years. Priorities are 5th-grade science, the math decline, and subgroup gaps.
