Hennepin Schools Lower Campus is a K–4 elementary school with 240 students in Minneapolis, part of the Hennepin Schools district. Compared with nearby schools serving similarly high-poverty populations, those results stand out: Hiawatha Leadership Acdy-Northrop posted 6.4% math and 12% reading, Folwell Elementary 13.6% and 11.5%, and Stonebridge World School 13.3% and 15%. Yet nearby schools with lower poverty rates generally score higher: Field Elementary, 0.55 miles away and serving 17.42% free/reduced lunch, had 73.9% math and 71.9% reading, while Bancroft Elementary (44.4% math, 44.6% reading) and Green Central Elementary (44.3% math, 42.6% reading) also outperformed.

Subgroup results are a bright spot: in 2025–2026 the school ranked 30th of 305 (90th percentile, 5 stars) for English Language Learner students and 58th of 315 (82nd percentile, 4 stars) for African American students, well above its overall 25th-percentile rank; low-income students were near the median (52nd percentile, 3 stars). Reading proficiency jumped from 21.74% to 35.8%, and math rose from 34.78% to 39.5%, though math was higher in 2023–2024 (45.92%). Science data is limited — the only figure is 14.89% in 2022–2023, versus 39.21% statewide. Some neighbors have incomplete data: Cosmos Montessori's scores are suppressed, and Hale Elementary (K–2) and Lake Nokomis Wenonah Elementary (K–1) have no current MCA results.

Three of my children go to school. I have not had any bad experience. The staff is incredible and the kids amazing. Hennepin Elementry school is a great school for so many reasons: Test score, community engagement, teacher are culturally relevant, relationship-between students and teacher are any other schools I have ever seen. Environment plays a big role for students learning, Hennepin creates that environment where students absolutely loved and flourished. Students get all the support whether is an academic or social skill. All I can say is that if you want your kids to be scholars and have high academic and leadership skills Hennepin Schools is the right school. Close Quote
