Summary

Davinci Academy is a K–8 public charter school at 532 Bunker Lake Boulevard NE in Ham Lake, Minnesota — a northern Twin Cities suburb — serving 952 students and operating as its own standalone district.

In 2025-26 the school ranked 360th of 869 ranked Minnesota schools — 59th percentile, 3 stars. Proficiency was 46% in math (state 44.9), 54.3% in reading (state 48.6) and 24.8% in science (state 25.5). Reading is the school's comparative strength: third of eleven local schools and 5.7 points above the state. Math ranks ninth of eleven locally, behind schools such as Eisenhower Elementary and Johnsville Elementary that serve higher-poverty populations. Science has slid from 51.5% to 24.8% in four years and now falls below the state for the first time. Most nearby schools serve grades K–5 or K–4 and belong to Anoka-Hennepin School District or Spring Lake Park Public Schools; Davinci is the only one enrolling middle grades. Over a decade the school has dropped from the 92nd percentile (2015-16) to the 59th, while its edge over the state narrowed in every subject. Poverty in the student body actually fell, from 32.6% to 26.0%, so the slide is not explained by changing student need.

The picture is mixed, not uniformly negative. Results are strong in 3rd, 4th, 6th and 8th grades, with 8th-grade reading at 66.3% (state 50.0) and 8th-grade science at 31.0% (state 16.7) — outcomes no nearby K–5 school can match. The acute problem is 5th grade, where math (28.2%) is last among ten comparable local schools and reading (49.0%) and science (18.6%) rank ninth of ten. The question for parents is why a school producing strong 8th-grade results is losing ground in that earlier grade band.
