Summary:

Universal Academy Charter School is a four-school Minnesota charter network serving roughly 679 students across two PK–6 elementary campuses and two grade 7–12 secondary campuses, located at shared addresses in Minneapolis and Burnsville, and ranked 276th of 458 districts in the state (40th percentile, 2 stars).

Inside the network, Universal Academy Middle/High has the strongest all-grade results in Math (38.1%) and Reading (45%), both above the district (35.7% Math, 40.9% Reading), despite the highest student/teacher ratio at 26.9. Universal Academy Elementary, the largest school with 411 students, is above the district in all three reported subjects, including the network's best Science score at 20% (district 14.1%). The two Burnsville South schools trail behind: Universal Academy South Elementary (103 students) reports 29.7% Math and 37.1% Reading, and Universal Academy South Middle/High (only 11 students) is lowest at 18.8% Math and 16.7% Reading, with Science suppressed at both South schools.

No school in the network exceeds the state averages (44.9% Math, 48.6% Reading, 25.5% Science) in any reported all-grade subject, and Science is the weakest area overall. Free/reduced lunch ranges from 81.82% to 92.7%, so poverty is high everywhere, yet performance is uneven. Grade-level bright spots do stand out: 7th grade Reading at 50% at Middle/High, 6th grade Math at 44.9% and 5th grade Reading at 50% at Elementary, and 6th grade Reading at 53.8% at South Elementary. Many values are suppressed for privacy or rest on very small groups, so results at the smallest schools should be read cautiously.
