Hope Community Academy

Hope Community Academy is a small Minnesota district with three schools in Saint Paul serving kindergarten through 12th grade: HOPE Community Academy Elementary (K–5, 434 students), HOPE Community Academy Middle (6–8, 221 students), and HOPE Community Academy High School (9–12, 124 students), for 779 students in total. As a district it ranks 406th of 458 Minnesota districts, about the 11th percentile, with 1 star.

The high school is the clearest bright spot, leading the district in every tested subject: math 12.9%, reading 31.3%, and science 25.8%. Its science proficiency is essentially at the state level (25.5%) and its reading is well above the district (18.6%); it also reports an 83.3% graduation rate and 0.0% dropout rate, close to the state's 84.9% and 4.2%. The middle school is the weakest, with math at 5.3% and science at 4.1%, plus 7th grade math at 2.6% and 7th grade reading at 5.1%; it ranks 502nd of 546 schools, 8th percentile, 0 stars. The elementary school is the largest and has the lowest student-teacher ratio (8.5), yet ranks 823rd of 869 schools, 5th percentile, 0 stars, with relative strengths in 4th grade reading (22.2%) and 5th grade reading (20.8%).

Math is a district-wide weakness. All three schools fall far below the state's 44.9%, and math declined at every school from 2024–2025 to 2025–2026. Reading trends are more positive, improving at the middle and high schools. Free/reduced lunch rates range from 85.48% to 90.05% across all three schools, so this is a high-poverty district. Keep in mind that the high school enrolls only 124 students, and its prior-year science figure is state-suppressed, so graduation, dropout, and year-to-year changes there can swing sharply.
