As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote The UCS District has proven themselves to be of great value in preparing students for a collegiate career. The IRC houses the MST (STEM) program and actually begins guiding the students in 6th grade with excelling in math. If your child has high academic potential, the UCS District provides resources and opportunities to achieve their best. As with anything in life, you're only going to get out of it what you put into it. Utica Community School District has an excellent return on investment for parents willing to support their children, and the UCS teachers. Close Quote

Open Quote Horrible administration. They're dishonest and spend more time trying to get out of doing their job than actually doing it. They're sneaky and unethical. They will grade assignments that were never completed and change other grades to give the illusion they student is doing great. The school, and district, is a dictatorship who snubs and looks down their noses at anyone that they can't control. The students suffer! They are afraid to make a move in this school for fear of reprimand. The teachers themselves can't negotiate with this horrible administration. Do not send your children to this district. There are better schools who want to partner with the students and parents on education. Close Quote

Open Quote We transferred here from another school. We are so glad we did. They challenge my child and all the teachers are very helpful. They come in early and stay late if a student needs help. I had questions leading up to the first day and they were answered promptly. So far, this school is so much better than our old school. One disappointment is the district's lack of contract with the teachers. They go above and beyond and shouldn't be without a contract! That's the fault of the district, not the school. Close Quote

Open Quote Absolute worst school for special education in Macomb County. Subject matter experts agree they don't follow the law. They manufacture documents and lie to discredit students and parents. The administration and teachers have no integrity.
Their goal for special education is to provide the least amount of education. Don't move to this district and move out of it if you can. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
