As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote Although we have only been at Troy Union 2 years, I am very pleased with the friendliness, genuine caring and concern that each of the TU staff members bestows upon the students and parents. Mr. Pass, the principle is a very warm and open individual. He is very easy to talk to and lets you know that he is aware of your concerns. He puts effort into correcting situations as they arise. I find great comfort knowing that he very visible, not locked away in his office, every time I have dropped off or picked up my child from school I have seen him, outside, talking to students or parents or just walking and monitoring the students as they arrive and depart. The office staff is wonderful, never snippy or short on the telephone or in person. I am always greeted with smiles and an eagerness to assist, very warm and helpful. The few teachers that have already taught or are currently teaching my child are very open and honest. My child has enjoyed being in all of their classes. Communication is excellent, any problems or concerns are address immediately via email, telephone call or in person. Each teacher is very approachable, open and willing to help my child with school lessons as well as student interactions. I am kept very well informed of what and how my child is doing in school via the “communications folder” that each student bring to and from school each day. My child loves the events that the school provides both during school hours and after school. TU also provides many opportunities for parents to meet and bond through classroom parties (which are open to the parents). Also they offer fun field trips and family game nights as well as the year end picnic just to name a few! In summary, when we first moved to Troy we were going to enroll her in another Troy school but after talking with our neighbor we gave Troy Union a try, we are so happy with our choice. 5 stars!!! Open Quote I moved to Troy in 1987. All four of my children attended Troy Union. Having been a teacher myself, I was very pleased with the compassion and quality of the staff. Our oldest child's name appears on the "Wall of Fame" and went on to receive a PhD in Biomedical Engineering. Many of her classmates are MD's. I thank God that all four of our children have degrees and excellent jobs. Now I have grandchildren at Troy Union. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
