Summary

Salina Intermediate 4 8 is a public middle school located in Dearborn, Michigan, serving grades 4-8 with a student population of 464. The school is part of the Dearborn City School District, which is ranked 279 out of 613 districts in Michigan and has a 3-star rating from SchoolDigger.

Despite the school's relatively high per-student spending of $19,940 in 2023-2024, Salina Intermediate 4 8 consistently underperforms compared to the Dearborn City School District and the state of Michigan in standardized test scores across all grade levels and subject areas. For example, in the 2024-2025 school year, the school's proficiency rates in M-Step/English Language Arts ranged from 21.8% to 30.3%, compared to the district's 38.1% to 49% and the state's 38.6% to 44.4%. The school also has consistently high chronic absenteeism rates, ranging from 24.5% to 30.8% over the past few years, significantly higher than the state average.

When comparing Salina Intermediate 4 8 to other middle schools in the Dearborn City School District, it performs significantly worse than Stout Middle School and Lowrey Middle School, which have higher academic proficiency rates, lower chronic absenteeism, and better overall rankings. This suggests that the school is struggling to provide a quality education to its students, and a comprehensive review of the school's educational practices, resource allocation, and support systems may be necessary to address the underlying factors contributing to the students' lack of academic success.
