While Fox Elementary School has consistently underperformed compared to the district and state in M-Step assessments across various grade levels and subjects, the school has shown varying performance across different student subgroups. For instance, the school's African American students have performed exceptionally well, ranking 27th out of 321 Michigan elementary schools in the 2022-2023 school year. However, the school's female and male students have generally underperformed, ranking in the bottom half of Michigan elementary schools in recent years. Another key challenge for Fox Elementary School is its high rates of chronic absenteeism, ranging from 21.9% to 30.8% over the past few years, which is significantly higher than the state's average. Additionally, the school has a relatively high percentage of students from low socioeconomic backgrounds, with the free and reduced-price lunch rate ranging from 50.21% to 59.83% in recent years. These factors can create additional challenges for the school and its staff in supporting student learning and achievement.

Open Quote These test scores do not show what a caring, committed, and engaged staff Fox has. It is called the Fox Family because they make you and your children feel like family. The teachers are continually going above and beyond for students, especially the neediest. The principal has an open door policy if you have any issues. Don't judge a school by the graphs you see here. This is a very diverse school that works together to meet family needs. It is also extremely clean and friendly with murals throughout.
