Carsonville-Port Sanilac Elementary School is a small, rural school in Carsonville, MI, serving 165 students in grades PK through 5, where a large majority of families (69-75%) qualify for free or reduced lunch.

This school has seen some real ups and downs in recent years. Overall, its state ranking dropped significantly in the most recent testing year, falling from the 43rd percentile to the 27th percentile. That means it went from being in the middle of the pack to the lower quarter of Michigan elementary schools. A big part of that decline shows up in 5th-grade math, where only 13% of students were proficient, compared to the state average of 32%.
