As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote Tired of hearing this school touted as a "Christian, private-school." Please do not give the schools who are actually Christian-based and ministries of churches a bad name. Landmark Academy is a PUBLIC school. Yes, they have a dress-code as do many PUBLIC schools in the Detroit area. They may be located next to a church, but this does not make them Christian. They are not allowed to teach Christianity in school just like every other PUBLIC school!!! Looking for a great education for your student? Investigate the test scores, disciplinary problems, and other parental feedback (public and private) of every school in your area before determining where your children will attend. No busing + uniforms does not equal a great education. CHARTER SCHOOLS ARE STILL PUBLIC SCHOOLS!! Close Quote

Open Quote We have become increasingly unsatisfied with this school over the last few years. The administration is unresponsive to concerns, and has chosen a direction that is not in keeping with the previous academic focus of the school, in my opinion. Expectations are far too low for students, both academically and behaviorally. There is some emphasis on individual student needs, but it is often taken too far and is a detriment to the education of the class as a whole. Students who behave, and just want to learn, are pushed aside because so much focus is placed on placating every "need". We will be removing our children before next year, after many years investment. Remember when you choose a charter school, that you have no control over what direction they choose to go in - and that direction may be radically different from the one you signed up for. Saddened and disappointed by the direction this one has taken. Close Quote

Open Quote New curriculum teaches students to believe in aliens and to do daily in-class meditation. This interferes with our Christian beliefs too. Landmark seems more concerned about being hip with students than sticking to the principles in which the school was founded. Teachers do not dress professional (a few seasoned teachers are the exception). Transferring out of this school almost always means the child will have to repeat the grade in a public school because they are so far behind.
Do yourself and your child a service and stick with public schools or even New Life. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
