While Auburn Middle School's academic performance, as measured by the percentage of students proficient or better in MEA (Maine Educational Assessments), is generally lower than the state average, the school's performance varies across different student subgroups. The school's performance for African American and multi-racial students is particularly concerning, with rankings in the bottom quartile of Maine middle schools. Additionally, Auburn Middle School has consistently high chronic absenteeism rates, ranging from 23.4% to 30.4% over the past few years, which is significantly higher than the state average and the rates of nearby higher-performing schools like Mt. The high percentage of students eligible for free or reduced-price lunch at Auburn Middle School, ranging from 42.91% to 58.11% over the past few years, suggests that the school serves a relatively disadvantaged population. This may require additional resources and targeted interventions to support the academic and social-emotional needs of these students. Overall, addressing the school's academic performance, equity and inclusion issues, chronic absenteeism, and socioeconomic factors could be crucial for Auburn Middle School's long-term success.

Open Quote I have dealt with this school for two years now and find it sub standard .The administration is a joke. My son has been in three unprovoked attacks and this best punishment they can come up with is a three day suspension for the kids involved.
I think they need to pay more attention and assert more control in their own class rooms. Close Quote
