Open Quote Holton is the closest thing to a school for the gifted that we have found, and believe me, we have tried a few (Nysmith included!). We were ambivalent when we visited Holton, and still were even after we enrolled our daughter. We had heard all of the schools' lines before: about how great the facilities are, how high academic standards are, etc. All I can say is that our highly gifted daughter seems very happy at Holton. I honestly can't say that she is as academically challenged as we would like to see her be, BUT we supplement that, and she has other, more important developmental tasks that she is successfully working on. Her giftedness is accepted in the classroom and responded to appropriately. Her Holton teacher seems to have an understanding of gifted children and how to help them in all the ways they need to be helped. Also, there are opportunities for outside activities with the arts center that is on Holton's grounds. I have to say Holton is the best school in the area for gifted girls. Close Quote

Open Quote First of all, to everyone who says Holton's a school for snooty rich kids, THAT'S NOT TRUE!!!

That aside, I love Holton because of the community. The number of students is fairly low, and the teacher to student ratio is higher than average (1:7), so we all know each other. Being at Holton is like being part of a *really* big family (with an obsession with plaid).

Go blue! Go white! GO HOLTON!!! :) Close Quote

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
