Open Quote The Quaker tradition is about building character. I'm proud of the men my boys are becoming and I'm grateful to be surrounded by a group of teachers and parents who share our values. With three children attending Friends Meeting School, our family has had the opportunity to work with virtually the entire faculty. They are brilliant, caring, and dedicated. Friends Meeting School offers rigorous academics but, more importantly, it is dedicated to turning out good kids. The kids at Friends are warm and accepting and positive. They don't put locks on their lockers because they don't need to. I can't tell you how pleased we are with Friends Meeting School. Close Quote

Open Quote $16,400 For Three Days of School!

Last summer we hastily enrolled our daughter in Friends Meeting School in Ijamsville, MD, in order to remove her from the High School environment she was previously in, hoping to change the direction of the path she was on. She was accepted on July 18. Nonrefundable deposit and first tuition payments were due July 30. The contract states that after August 1, the full year’s tuition is owed whether or not the child remains in the school. Classes started August 29.

We withdrew our daughter after the first three days of school and enrolled her in a different public school instead. We had already paid about 60% of the tuition and fees for Friends Meeting School, and although they are legally entitled to the full year’s tuition, our request to be excused from the last payment of $6,950 was denied.

Yes, FMS is within their legal rights, which they cited, but I feel they have fallen short of being right ethically and morally. “With Friends like these . . .” Close Quote

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
