Beddow School - Waldorf Campus

Our children have been attending this school for the past three years and we couldn't be happier. We were puzzled by the other review as we have not experienced any of the things they talk about. The playground is very nice. The administration is very helpful. The administrative assistant greets our children everyday in a caring manner. We were a little unsure about Montessori at the beginning because it seemed so different from "normal" daycare and school, but we're glad we made the choice to go with Montessori. We recommend it to all our friends!

This school has the potential to be wonderful, the primary teachers are fantastic and my kids love going to school. Our kids have learned so much and adore their teachers. We have had some issues during the one year my children have attended and none of them have to do with the primary teachers. The head of Beddow Schools is abrasive, not approachable and does not involve the parents in any way. Some of the staff seem to expect the children to be perfect, the head of school included, and will single your child out for the most normal and minor misbehaviors. This combined with the schools inadequate play area (rusty old metal play structures), grouchy head of school, and recent limitations on the classes going on nature walks outside (which is an important part of the Montessori teaching philosophy) has really made our experience less than desirable. There were some other issues that I will not bring up here, but needless to say, our children are enrolled in another Montessori school for next year.
